Sunrise Adventure coming this weekend

By Mike on June 15, 2009 with 5 Comments

The “official” BikeFitness.net ride this weekend (June 19-21) will be up north – Friday through Sunday in Rogers City, MI, where a bunch of us will be doing the three-day Sunrise Adventure tour around the northeastern tip of Michigan’s lower peninsula along the Lake Huron shoreline.

They call that part of Michigan the “Sunrise Side” and this tour, sponsored by the League of Michigan Bicyclists, has daily routes of 40 or 60 miles, starting and returning in Rogers City. Last I heard, there were still openings. But check this site to be sure: http://www.lmb.org/pages/Events/ShorelinePages/sunrisead.htm.

For those not doing the Sunrise Adventure post under comments where and how you want to connect down here.

I’ll be up north. We’ll post pics and daily recaps under Ride Reports in the BikeFitness Community Forums.

The following weekend, June 27, we’re planning a fat tire ride. This one will do about 25-30 miles and will travel, as much as possible, the new “Loop” network of trails being implemented in Oakland Township. This will visit a bunch of brand new parks along the way. Jim f has posted a map of the route and some more details on the forums. Click here to go directly to his report.

I’m planning on taking my mountain bike to the southwestern end of the Clinton River Trail and go up to Rochester and back. I’m planning on starting at 9 am. If this rain gets too bad, I may not go. I’ll post around 7 am.
