On Helluva Ride was picture postcard perfect

There were some 2,000 riders for the annual One Helluva Ride bicycle tour this year and, weather wise, it had to be about as perfect as you could imagine. It was a cloudless sky, and though the temps hit the upper 80-’s by the time we finished, all the heat buildup was quickly dissipated at the finish line by the sweetest tasting slices of ice cold watermelon you ever tasted.

Helmets off to the ride organizers, the Ann Arbor Bicycle Touring Company. I don’t think I have ever ridden an event that was better run than this one.

Tim, Tina, Mike, Rene’ and I did the 64 mile route, which took us from the start at the Chelsea Fairgrounds on a loop course through beautifully rolling rural roads in Washtenaw, Livingston, Ingham and Jackson Counties. Here’s my computer map of the ride:

Next year, I think we’ll opt for the 75 mile or century ride.
